It all started with non-typical client text “Hi Mike I would be interested in your virtual bookings.. also do you travel interstate I am in Canberra. My name is L. Have a lovely day x”
I say non-typical as the typical client text can be anything for “Hi” to “I’m horny”, those are always from males and tend to lead absolutely nowhere quick. Back to L.
So L and I discussed what she wanted, the services desired and boundaries that would be required from both client and service provider prior to engaging in and sex work. Unfortunately, the timing was poor as not long after our discussion and setting an appointment, there would be a natural disaster that would create unfortunate circumstances in which I couldn’t provide the service. L paid, and although the offer was to return the booking fee, she declined and wanted it to be a deposit for when there was an opening.
L would send a couple texts at random that was general chit chat, and whilst this is “off the clock” it was limited, an escorts personal time, is their personal time and not for clients to create friendships. It protects both client and escort from further complications…
After a few days and some reviewing of location, this opening presented itself. This was 10 days after the initial contact and the first opportunity whereby the escort was away from family, which included minors, and able to conduct a booking and ensure that the client had all my attention. As the client messages, I notice that they become more and more demanding, and when I don’t reply due to a myriad of reasons, including that the client does not own an escort especially when they haven’t paid, the messages become ruder and more disrespectful. A text is sent at 10:11 “So are we conforming today?” and followed up a few minutes later with “yep.. okay so no answer.. so I have been ripped off.. who knows if you exist.. okay good game played”
I will bring the audience’s attention back to earlier when the initial booking couldn’t be conducted and a refund was offered, L was adamant that she is happy to wait.
I then advise her “Apologies at a meeting. We are confirming today, not being ripped off. But if you want me to I’ll transfer your money back to you.”
What followed was a tirade of sarcastic messages, at which point I return the clients booking fee and advise her that this is not going forward due to crossing boundaries and the way the messages have indicated that we will not be able to create a connection. Near the end of a one way abusive, belittling and sarcastic round of messages to me, L then goes on in an attempt to blackmail me.
I tell you this story, not to name and shame L, but to make others aware of how clients project their insecurities and trauma onto escorts. This is also to show that whilst males are the main demographic of clients for escorts, there are females out there how use and abuse escorts in the same manner.
Escorts are not punching bags, emotional or physical. They may have families and their own trauma’s; they may come into the industry for financial reasons or just love what they do. It doesn’t matter the reason why someone is an escort, what is important is how they client interacts with the escort. It doesn’t matter your sex or gender, treating others with respect and dignity should never be put aside to excuse your poor behaviours.
For L, it would pay dividends for her to seek trauma counselling and engage in psychotherapy to overcome her trauma; not to see an escort and attempt to use them for her therapeutic outbursts of anger.
