Do sex workers actually enjoy what they do?

In my line of work one of the biggest questions I get asked is, “Do you actually enjoy what you do?”
The honest answer is… it depends on the person,the vibe, how I’m feeling that day etc
Sex workers are just like people in any other profession. Some absolutely love what they do and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Others see it as a way to earn a living while working towards other goals, and some decide after a while that it’s not the right industry for them. There isn’t one answer that applies to everyone.
Personally, I think it’s important to remember that we’re all individuals with different personalities, motivations and experiences. Some women enjoy meeting new people, having interesting conversations and the flexibility that comes with the job. Others enjoy the financial independence it can provide. And, just like in any career, there are also difficult days, challenging clients and moments where work simply feels like… work.
I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that every sex worker either loves every minute of it or hates every minute of it. The reality usually sits somewhere in between. Just like teachers, nurses, tradies or office workers, our feelings about our jobs can change from day to day. At the end of the day, no one should speak for the entire industry. Every woman’s story is her own. The best thing we can do is listen without judgment and remember that there are as many different experiences in sex work as there are women working within it.
